The ‘Tree Rock Robot’ series is a collection that perfectly nests individual stones into a wooden surface. The collection is made using advanced digital fabrication tools such as a 3D scanner and CNC router. The individuality of each piece is an intentional response towards the mass production mindset these tools would typically be leveraged towards. After carving each piece is sanded and finished by hand. The stones remain loose to encourage handling and interaction with the pieces. This series is supported by The University of Oregon College of Design.
