Filamento is a light fixture workshop and studio that mixes contemporary design with the popular tradition of Mexican art. It was founded in 2015 in the city of Guadalajara, in western Mexico, by the architects Sofía Contreras and Enrique Tripp, who share the vision of working with and for Mexican culture in order to enrich it and broaden its scope.
Filamento was founded based on a particular goal: to illuminate the space with authenticity. That authenticity arises in the hands of Mexican artisans who work delicately with endemic materials, typical of each community, which tells the story of their origins, their ancestors, their customs and their identity. That is why the light fixtures are not limited to design, they also expand in a constant dialogue between the materials and the technique, between the traditional and the contemporary.
